I made this off-the-shoulder dress for a sunny vacation, using the same pattern as I did for the top in this previous post (which has all the details of the pattern, sizing, alteration and construction, so I won’t repeat them here!). The dress was lovely to wear in the heat, and I love the gorgeous floral print. I’ll definitely be reaching for it this summer!
The Fabric
This fabric is a beautiful viscose from Selvedge & Bolts (now sold out). I fell in love with the elegant floral print – I actually also purchased it in the other available colourway which features the same print on a black base.
Sizing and Alterations
I started off with the same size (S) as I had used for the M7757 top, and I made the three changes I had ‘noted for next time’ in that post. I then lengthened the front and back pieces to a midi length, with a little shaping at the waist on the side seams. For this dress I only used one of the two ruffle pieces.
Construction
As with the M7757 top, construction was really straightforward and I whipped this dress up in no time! I will add a couple of thread chain belt loops to hold the skinny belt in position once I’ve worn it a few more times and decided where it is most comfortable.
